At one time or another, honestly hasn’t every one of us dream of living in an exquisite house? Eyes closed, yes we have! But remember with that kind of a house, there comes a big price tag. If you are just another somebody who lives and works for the weekend, surely you are not going to own that kind of a house. The curious mind explores which houses are really the most expensive in the world. The list of the top 10 is not so palpable. Read on…

10. Bran Castle

Located in Romania at the border of Wallachia and Transylvania, this $135 million castle is often acclaimed as the “Castle of Dracula.” It was once a home to Vlad III the “Impaler” of Wallachia. Because of his pernicious behavior, readers have often associated him with Count Dracula, and Bran Castle has been concorded as the home of the titular character in the novel “Dracula” by Bram Stoke.It was a heart for Romanian royals. It featured 17 bedrooms. The castle is now a museum of antique artifacts. It is open for tourists to visit the museum independently or with a guided tour.

9. Fleur De Lys

Fleur De Lys has often been marketed as the world’s most expensive house. Having a worth of $125 million, it is only number nine on our list. It covers an area of 41,000 square feet , and has 15 bedrooms, but apparently no bathrooms. It is located on 7 Thomas Street, Providence in Rhode Island. It was build in 1885 by the architect Edmund Rusell Willson. In 1992 it was declared as a National Historical Landmark.

8. Updown Court

Updown Court is a Californian style residence covering a land area of 58 acres in Windlesham, Surrey, England. Architect John B. Scholz designed the building. Construction started in the year 2002 and ended in 2006.This building comprises of 103 rooms of which 24 are bedrooms each with its bathroom. Other features of the house are its automated two lane bowling alley, five swimming pools, a squash court, tennis court, a wine cellar with a capacity of storage for 3000 bottles and a panic room. It also has a private cinema with 50 seats. Moreover it features an underground garage that can house eight stretched limousines.

7. The Manor

Costing $150 million, the Manor is located in the Sydney suburb of Mosman. It is owned by Aaron Spelling. Initially it was planned as only an eight room cottage but it turned out to be a mansion with over thirty-two rooms.English writer Mary Lutyens stayed at this residence in the 1920’s and described it as “a huge and hideous villa.” The house covers a land area of 56,000 square feet. It has 123 rooms, a bowling alley and an ice rink. Not to forget an entire wing that covers Spelling’s wife’s wardrobe.

6. The Pinnacle

Valuing at $155 million, The Pinnacle is owned by Tim Blixseth and has two very unique features. One it has a private chair lift from the house to the ski-resort behind the house. Second, that it is probably the only house that does not claim its expensiveness in the entire world.It is comprised of 10 bedrooms, fireplaces in all bathrooms, a wine cellar which is huge, indoor and outdoor pools, gym and a massage room. We would only do justice by saying that it has the world’s best backyard- the ski resort.

It is a five story, Victorian style 10 bedroom Villa. IT also has an underground indoor swimming pool, panic room and a private movie theatre. It values at $161 million and is located in London.Elena Franchuk, daughter of a former Ukranian President and a friend of Elton John bought this house in 2008.

This house was featured in the movie, “The Godfather.” Another really interesting fact about this residence is that JFK spend his honeymoon here.It features three swimming pools, 29 bedrooms, a movie theatre and a disco for some odd reason.

Ira Rennert is its owner who named the house after the adjoining body of water, Fairfield Pond. This house has been awarded the status of the most valuable house in the United States.

Villa LEopolda was constructed by King Leopold II of Belgium in the year 1902. IT is located in the French town of Ville franche-sur-Mer on the French Riveria. It was bought by a Russian billionaire Prokhorov in 2008. Even though this man lost billions to the economic collapse he can still buy a three quarter billion summer house for himself.Villa Leopolda has 27 stories, and 19 bedrooms. IT was designed and built by an American architect, Ogden Codman, Jr.

It’s the one billion dollar home, the Antilla; the actual most expensive house in the world.It is located in Mumbai, probably not a city one would expect to find the most expensive house in. It has 27 stories featuring 6 floors for parking. Then it has a separate health level which comprises a Jacuzzi, gym, and an ice room. A ballroom level. Several floors of bedrooms and bathrooms and a most awe-striking four story garden.The architecture of the building is Indian and is known as Vastu Shastra. In accordance to this Indian tradition, each floor of the house has not only a unique design but a unique set of materials and aesthetics are used in its construction. This means that each room is meant to seem like it’s from a different house.To sum it up, this house features everything the human mind could ever think of.
